Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) is loved by outdoor adventurers for its iconic Ski-Doo, Sea-Doo and Can-Am power sports vehicles. Despite being famous for its amazing products, BRP’s vision is to become an experience-driven company for the outdoor community – a substantial departure from its core expertise.
Together, BRP worked with Applied Innovation Exchange team in New York to create Uncharted Playgrounds, an online platform that connects powersport enthusiasts with destinations where they can enjoy outdoor adventuring at its best. Uncharted Playgrounds was an immediate success, highlighting transformational innovation delivers impact. Plus, its unlocking growth opportunities, creating new revenue streams and building closer customer connections throughout BRP’s business.
New horizons for adventurers
BRP knew it wanted to evolve into an applied innovation-driven business but was unsure how to realize its ambition. We worked with BRP and its creative partners to develop an in-house innovation lab, BRP-X, where we explored practical solutions for business growth in a spirit of collaboration.
Once we zeroed-in on BRP customers’ biggest pain point – the challenge of finding new adventure sites – the Uncharted Playgrounds concept quickly took shape. As well as suggesting new places for adventurers to ride, the platform provides private and institutional landowners with the chance to monetize unused land – opening new adventure horizons for the power sports community.
